To the GM Showcase Community
1. We’re genuinely sorry that we’ve upset you.
2. We want you to be part of the YY Games Community..give it a chance…it’s NOT the GMC or anything like it.
3. We don’t intend to have your content on YYG if you don’t want it to be available to the hundreds of thousands of game players we want to attract there.
4. We will load many of the games from GMS on to YYG. Unfortunately it’s now too late to stop it happening as we want to launch very very soon…with hindsight this may have done this differently, but it’s too late to stop.
5. We will remove any games that you don’t want to have on the YYG site…the process is in place to do this. You just have to ask…in return I ask you to be patient and give it a few days…who knows you might like what you see ?
6. YYG will pay to keep the GMS Forum up and running until we can find a satisfactory way to make you feel more welcome in the YYG community.
7. Give us a chance … most of you haven’t even seen the site yet !!!!

Thanks for the answer. This solution answers to the main 2 problem I had with the acquisition:
1. The GMS forums will continue to exist
2. People can now tell YYG to not put their game on the site
This doesnt mean I am happy with the merge, but at least the main problems got solved.

Sometimes people don’t like change. Personaly I think this is great but I can see why other people would be concerned. I am glad that you are working wih them and I hope that they can learn to like yoyo games. because it is going to be the best.

Hmmm… is YoYo Games afraid that there won’t be enough games on the website when it goes live?….
April 26th, 2007 at 05:45 pm
I doubt YYG are afraid, about lack of content.. it just looks a lot better to have some thing at the site when it opens.
April 26th, 2007 at 06:49 pm
@Chronic … Support your coment and I would like to request all GMS admins, mods and members to be a part of YYG and share your resources …. please

It seems Yoyo will always be faced with dislike and the such, but what company isn’t, right? Don’t let this discourage you guys (that goes for both Yoyo Games and its supporters).
On a side note: Heh. Wait until the GameMaker suggestions for(u)m opens. Good luck sorting through that.
I just hope you’ll be able to find mine.

April 27th, 2007 at 07:36 am
Lol…. Scorptek and his gamemaker news is quicker than YoYo’s own blog in reporting this XD
April 27th, 2007 at 10:08 am
The new site looks cool!
Kupo!
April 27th, 2007 at 11:18 am
Because of change of server, http://www.yoyogames.com might not work yet.
Try using http://89.234.40.74 instead.

Joerdgs, If you’ve been following the comments by Sandy, then you would know there was never a plan to announce the launch of the beta site so there wouldn’t be a huge queue of people trying to view it. In other words, they wanted to avoid what happened with the GM7 launch.
April 27th, 2007 at 07:56 pm
Finally, it`s alive! Nice site!
April 28th, 2007 at 01:13 am
I wonder if Sandy posted this lol
And yes very nice site, I just regret I was only like the first out of 90 members to join, I wanted to be one of like the first 50
I WANT TO BE SPECIAL!

And I think YYG is great
Stop complaining about it
April 28th, 2007 at 03:16 am
I, being a long time hater of yo yo games and its ridiculous activation system for gamemaker/almost as gay name could not believe that a great website like gmshowcase would join YYG. U guys must be pretty desperate to *mistakingly* think they would enter any kind of agreement with u. How can u accidentally take their games and say they are goign to be redirected to your site? I have said it once and i will say it again, YYG will be the end of a great program called gamemaker
April 28th, 2007 at 04:52 am
Yoyo Games is awesome dudes Believe it
and STOP COMPLAINING about it i say it rulz
April 28th, 2007 at 10:09 am
Diggin’ the beta website. Can’t wait for the full version!
April 28th, 2007 at 02:25 pm
Nice work on the site so far. It’s good to see it starting to build up properly now. Far better an official GM site than the old one. Much easier to show visitors exactly the kind of quality GM is really capable of.
April 28th, 2007 at 09:48 pm
-_-… Didn’t you HATE that website? It’s really nice, but, didn’t you hate it?
April 29th, 2007 at 04:00 am
I think the site is nice but it takes forever to load all the other sites load ten times faster, It is also hard on my eyes (the green words I mean).
April 30th, 2007 at 05:37 pm
Chronic, I think most people found out by now. Maybe it’s reasonable to not announce the first week, but an official statement after that period would look somewhat more professional.

MyChemicalHamster, I share your feelings to some extent - I too don’t agree with some of YoYo’s policies and the name is not appealing, and it IS making a mistake by going too fast and associating itself with other sites. It should start on its own and EARN a reputation first before jumping the boat - At first I thought that YoYo would KILL gamemaker, but now I’m not 100% pessimistic - give them a chance, I think Game Maker was DEAD before yoyo joined. Mark does not have much time to keep it properly up to date, so I don’t think it will be worse with YoYo. Sandy said that he has invested lots of money and hoping that they are planning to add new features to GM and make it better, I think they want to help GM but certain things they are doing, in my opinion that is hurting themselves, but I will always keep faith that maybe one day there will be good changes.
Game Maker is an unuseable program and very poorly written. I was using it the other nite and tried making a game (not a crappy game like most people make) but one with good qualitty graphics, and I used 1 quality background 54k in size and the bloody compiled game took over 50MB and I barely had any resources (no sound no music even!) GM is VERY inefficient and bloody slow - I have an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ and a GeForce 8600GTS, so this goes to show how poorly optimised for making quality games, and Sandy TOLD ME OFF so I’ll just have to wait and see if Sandy’s words come through, I hope i’m wrong.
May 8th, 2007 at 06:25 am
Greg24, if GM runs that poorly for you, you are somewhat to blame. We all agree that GM is slow, but it is nothing like you’re making out.
May 17th, 2007 at 11:57 am
Thats because Greg24 is either a great exagerrator or the owner of a dodgy computer…
June 28th, 2007 at 06:42 am
